City’s housing investments lauded

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development recognized Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) investments made by the city of Charlotte on Tuesday morning at the Alexander Apartments on Statesville Avenue.

The city’s current CDBG partners include the Police Activities League, Greater Enrichment, the Young Women’s Christian Association, Habitat for Humanity and the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Housing Partnership.

The CDBG program aims to “improve the lives of working class families throughout the city by supporting nonprofit partners performing house rehabilitation, area revitalization, and out of school enrichment programs,” according to a statement by the city’s Neighborhood and Business Services Department.

The CDBG program is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year.
