Rep. Rodney Moore, a Democrat serving Mecklenburg County constituents at the N.C. House of Representatives in Raleigh, was the first person to speak at
the Charlotte City Council’s Citizens’ Forum on Monday evening. Backed up by audience members bearing signs reading “Stop Police Misconduct” and “Stop Racial Profiling,” Moore urged the councilmembers to adopt an anti-racial profiling ordinance.
Moore was just getting into the groove of things when the three-minute-limit buzzer sounded. Not finished, he requested more time.
Sensing an opportunity for some good old-fashioned political quid pro quo, Mayor Dan Clodfelter returned: “If I give you more time, will you give us back our airport?”
