The Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners on Tuesday set a public hearing for Oct. 7 on Southern Apartment Group – Ballantyne LLC’s request to rezone 3.78 acres just outside the Charlotte city limits along Lancaster Highway for a proposed office and apartment development.
The company wants to build two 5,000-square-foot one-story office buildings at 14732 Lancaster Highway with a three-story, 24-unit apartment building behind it. The project does not yet have a name.
The land currently holds a single-family house and is zoned for multi-family residential conditional. The company is asking that it be rezoned to neighborhood services.
The property, owned by Notion Properties LLC of Weddington, is between Southcrest Lane and Winghurst Drive; is surrounded primarily by residential development; and is across the highway from Ballantyne West.
The hearing will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 7 in the Meeting Chamber at Charlotte-Mecklenburg Government Center at 600 E. Fourth St.
