Morningstar Properties, the Matthews real estate developer, has begun construction on a self-storage facility in South End at the corner of South Tryon and Griffith Streets.
The new 100,000 square foot property is set to open in December and will add more than 700 storage units to the company’s portfolio. The storage facility will have only heated and cooled units as well as code controlled access.
The exterior of the building will resemble a high-end retail space complete with landscaping in order to better suit the existing neighborhood.
Morningstar now operates 28 min-storage centers mostly in the South accounting for 13,000 storage units in 9 states.
“With each new storage facility, we look for ways to improve so that we may provide our customers with the best possible experience,” said Dave Benson, Morningstar Properties president. “We’ve served the Charlotte area for over 30 years and are proud to be able to invest in the growing South End community, while providing a much needed neighborhood service.”
