N.C. DOT to hold meeting to discuss study

The North Carolina Department of Transportation will be holding a meeting in Charlotte on July 2 to discuss the findings of a recent study on programs to help business owned by minorities and women and disadvantaged business enterprises.

The meeting will begin at 10 a.m. at the N.C. DOT Transportation Maangement Center, 2327 Tipton Drive, Charlotte.

Transportation officials hired Colette Holt & Associates to conduct the study to determine whether the department still has a compelling reason to continue an M/WBE program and whether the contracting market is fair and equitable, according to a news release.

The programs are designed to provide opportunities for smaller and disadvantaged companies to bid on state and federal contracts.
