Two regional homebuilders with headquarters in the Charlotte area made Builder magazine’s top 100 list for 2013, finishing in the top 50.
Both privately held companies finished the year in the top 50, as measured by number of units sold.
True Homes USA of Monroe came in 44th with 864 sales, followed immediately by Charlotte-based Eastwood Homes, which was ranked No. 45 with 862 sales. Eastwood edged True homes in terms of the gross 2013 revenues the company’s reported to the magazine, $175 million to $172 million.
In addition to Charlotte, Eastwood is active in Raleigh; the Triad area of Greensboro, Winston-Salem and High Point; the S.C. markets of Charleston and Greenville; and Richmond, Va.
True builds in Charlotte, Winston-Salem, Greensboro and Charleston.
The “Builder 100” list’s top homebuilder for 2013, D.R. Horton of Fort Worth, Texas, sold more than 25,000 homes and grossed more than $6.6 billion. Locally, Horton led in the number of single-family residential building permits issued in Mecklenburg County last year.
In addition to Horton, three of the other Builder magazine’s top five are active in the Charlotte market: No. 2 Lennar Corp. of Miami; No. 3 PulteGroup of Greater Detroit; and No. 4 NVR, which is based in the Washington, D.C., area and does business locally as Ryan Homes.
