Tree.com, the parent company of internet lending site Lending Tree.com, lost its patent infringement suit against Zillow, Adchemy and NexTag.
A federal jury in Charlotte found that Lending Tree’s competitors did not infringe on the company’s patents with regards to the technology it uses to match lenders with borrowers seeking a mortgage, car loan or other forms of credit.
The jury did reject the defendants’ counterclaims of antitrust violations by Lending Tree.
In a statement, Tree.com, which is based in Ballantyne, said it was pleased with the jury’s findings on the antitrust violations, but it was “disappointed with the verdict on its patent claims and believes it has strong ground for an appeal.”
The company also said it will continue to offer Lending Tree’s “current suite of products and services.”
