UNC Charlotte starts small business help program

CHARLOTTE — UNC Charlotte has finished a $35 million building it hopes will stimulate business growth and promote research and innovation.

The Portal Building will officially open on Feb. 28, but university officials are showing the 96,000-square foot facility off to reporters Tuesday.

Portal stands for Partnership, Outreach, and Research to Accelerate Learning. The building will offer entrepreneurs and others starting their own businesses office space, assistance, coaching and mentoring.

The new building is on UNC Charlotte’s campus in the northeastern part of the city.
