Affordable housing projects sought for grant

You don’t have to be a nonprofit to get this housing grant.

The Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta, which donated more than $21 million in 2013 to both for-profit and not-for-profit developers of local nonprofit affordable housing projects in the Southeast, is looking to do more of the same next year.

FHL Bank Atlanta announced Dec. 9 that registration is open for its next round of grants. Applications can be filed starting Jan. 15 through the Feb. 13 deadline.

An online seminar on the grant-writing and application process will be held at 10 a.m. Dec. 12, and a digitally recorded version will be available for viewing afterward.

Affordable rental or ownership projects must be in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and the Washington, D.C., area to qualify.

Developers must apply in partnership with FHLBank Atlanta member financial institutions. A list of member institutions is available at www.fhlbatl.com.
