Charlotte State of the Market commercial real estate summit coming next week

UPTOWN — Peter Pappas of Pappas Properties, Tori Kerr of Hines and Chris Thomas of Childress Klein Properties are but some of the heavy hitters in Charlotte’s commercial real estate sector who will lead the third annual  Charlotte State of the Market summit here Tuesday.

Sponsored by CohnReznick accounting firm of New York City, New Jersey-based Bohler Engineering and Federal Capital Partners real estate investment trust of suburban Washington, D.C., the panel discussion will feature:

  • Pappas, president and CEO of Charlotte-based Pappas Properties.
  • Kerr, managing director of asset management for Hines, based in Houston but with offices in Charlotte.
  • Thomas, a partner at Charlotte’s Childress Klein.
  • Bryan Howell, vice president and managing director at Orlando, Fla.-based Parkway Properties, whose markets include the Queen City.
  • Bryan Kane, vice president of acquisitions with Federal Capital, which has operations in N.C.
  • Barry Fabyan, senior vice president and manager of the Bissell Cos. real estate firm of Charlotte.
  • And Cristi Lewis, partner at Cohn Reznick, who will moderate.

Some of the subjects examined are expected to be market pricing and fundamentals, the comparable viability of submarkets, creditworthiness of tenants and landlords, rental rates and Charlotte as an investment market.

The summit will be at the Hilton Charlotte Center City at 222 E. Third St. It begins at 7 a.m. with a continental breakfast, followed by the panel at 8.
