CHARLOTTE – Starting Monday, the city is accepting bids from contractors wishing to work on a five-story, 1.25 million-square-foot parking deck at Charlotte Douglas International Airport. The city is calling the project “Business Valet Parking Deck II.”
Potential bidders on the project can obtain bidding materials starting at 2 p.m. on Monday and are invited to submit them until 10 a.m. on May 21, when the bidding is closed. Also on that date, the bids will be publicly opened and read at the Airport Maintenance Facility at 5601 Wilkinson Blvd.
According to city documents, the parking deck consists of a new 5-story, post tensioned cast in place concrete deck with 3,050 parking spaces. The winning contractor will also be responsible for associated site work, paving and roadwork, underground utility work, site landscaping, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and signage, the documents show.
At 10 a.m. on April 30, the city is hosting a pre-bid conference for interested contractors. The meeting will also be at 5601 Wilkinson Boulevard.
