ContraVest plans 250-unit uptown apartment complex

CHARLOTTE — ContraVest, an Altamonte Springs, Fla.-based commercial-development company, is planning a 250-unit midrise apartment complex in uptown Charlotte, according to a ContraVest official familiar with the project.

Construction will likely begin this year on the project, which will encompass the uptown block bounded by West Trade, West Fifth, North Irwin and North Sycamore streets, said the ContraVest official, who asked not to be named, citing ongoing negotiations related to the project. The official declined to disclose the complex’s name, development costs, square footage or expected start or completion dates.

This month, construction began on another ContraVest apartment project in Charlotte. Construction started Jan. 2 on the 321-unit Addison apartments on South Tryon Street, a project expected to be completed by June 2014.
