$500,000 adult day care to be built on Sardis Road

CHARLOTTE — Construction is set to begin next week on a $500,000, 5,000-square-foot adult day care business on Sardis Road, near the intersection with Sardis Road North.

Sardis Gardens Adult Daycare is expected to be open by late spring or early summer to provide care for seniors who have Alzheimer’s disease and other medical conditions.

Charlotte-based Alzheimer’s Memory Center, which couldn’t be reached for comment, will own the day care.

Dave Buist, managing partner of Fort Mill, S.C.,-based Ferrera Buist, the general contractor on the project, said that the location on Sardis Road was ideal for the day care.

“For this, we needed to be in a residential area,” he said. “We needed a location where people can come by on their way to work to drop off a loved one and then can come back by on their way home from work.”

Buist said he expects construction to take about six months but the holidays could slow the project down.
