Charlotte-based general contractor Hendrick Construction has won a $6 million contract to expand the North Carolina Zoo’s polar bear exhibit.
The company announced the award this week.
Hendrick will build a 5,500-square-foot holding facility with a maternity den, a 4,500-square-foot visitor building and an 800-square-foot interpretive viewing shelter for visitors.
Raleigh-based HH Architecture is the project architect.
The new exhibit will open in the spring of 2013.
