France-based Bluestar Silicones says it is getting close to starting a retrofit project at the 226,000-square-foot former Hella Lighting building at 7979 Park Place Road in York County.

The company, which earlier this year said it picked 12345 Steele Creek Road in Charlotte as the site to consolidate two U.S. manufacturing facilities, reneged on that promise and instead chose the Hella Lighting building.

The company is evaluating bids for the retrofit work and hasn’t decided on a contractor, Karen O’Keefe, health care marketing manager for Bluestone, said.

Bluestar will relocate facilities in Rock Hill, S.C., and Ventura, Calif., to the Hella Lighting facility.

Bluestar closed on the 20-acre site Sept. 16.
