Lincoln County rezones 250 acres

At their Monday meeting, Lincoln County commissioners OK’d the rezoning of 250 acres from a conditional use planned residential district, or CUPR, to a more standard residential single-family district, or RSF.

The property is on the south side of Webbs Road, west side of Burton Lane and north side of Blades Trail in Catawba Springs Township. The area is just north of the coast of Lake Norman.

Lincoln County zoning administrator Randy Hawkins request the zoning change. In documents requesting the vote, Hawkins noted that the land had been zoned CUPR for a planned subdivision in 200, but the project had never materialized.

“Streets and utilities have been constructed on part of the property,” Hawkins wrote in his report to the commissioners. “But no structures have been built.”

With the subdivision project scrapped, the CUPR designation is no longer necessary, he said.
