Carowinds owner buys 61 acres

The owner of Carowinds has bought 61 acres of vacant property next to the theme park to make way for future expansions.

Cedar Fair Entertainment Co., based in Sandusky, Ohio, made the announcement Monday. It did not disclose the purchase price.

Matt Ouimet, Cedar Fair President, said that since 2006 the company has invested more than $45 million in new rides and attractions at Carowinds.
