Daimler Trucks North America to add nearly 700 jobs in Gastonia, Mount Holly

Daimler Trucks North America today said it plans to add nearly 700 jobs at its manufacturing plants in Mount Holly and Gastonia.

The Portland, Ore.-based company said it is adding 535 manufacturing and 37 administrative positions by September to its Mount Holly truck-manufacturing plant, which is also getting a second shift.

The company is adding 121 manufacturing positions and three administrative jobs by the fourth quarter at its Gastonia parts-manufacturing plant.

The Mount Holly plant manufactures Freightliner M2 business class medium-duty, hybrid and natural gas trucks, as well as Freightliner’s 108SD and 114SD trucks for the severe-duty vocational truck markets.

The Gastonia plant manufactures specialized parts and components for all the company’s commercial vehicles, supplying every DTNA facility in the U.S. and Mexico as well as the company’s parts distribution centers in support of the worldwide Freightliner and Western Star dealer network.
