Foreclosure filings rose nearly 12 percent in the Charlotte-Gastonia-Concord area in April from March but fell more than 17 percent compared with a year ago, Irvine, Calif.-based RealtyTrac said today.
There were 1,211 filings, or one in every 615 housing units, in the area in April, compared with 1,082 in March and 1,463 in April 2010.
In Mecklenburg County, filings rose nearly 32 percent in April to 836 from 634 in March. But they were down more than 16 percent from 997 in April 2010.
North Carolina had a 13.9 percent increase in filings to 2,784 in April from 2,444 in March. Filings dropped nearly 29 percent statewide from 3,902 in April 2010.
In the U.S., filings fell 8.6 percent to 219,258 in April from 239,795 in March. They were down more than 34 percent from 333,837 in April 2010.
