CaroMont Health losing CEO to federal agency

Gastonia-based CaroMont Health said it is losing its president and CEO to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the federal agency within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services that administers the Medicare program.

In her new post, Valinda Rutledge will be tasked with creating methods to improve national health care quality, CaroMont Health said.

Rutledge will have a senior leadership position as director of the Patient Care Models Group at CMS’ Center of Medicare and Medicaid Innovation.

CaroMont Health is a nonprofit health care system that includes Gaston Memorial Hospital, Courtland Terrace, Gaston Hospice and CaroMont Medical Group.
