Forsite buys Gastonia building, lands three tenants

Forsite Development today said it has bought a former textile mill in Gastonia.

1925 West Poplar St., a 211,000-square-foot building, has been leased to Wix Filters and Republic Textile Equipment Co., Charlotte-based Forsite said.

Wix designs, manufactures and distributes products for automotive, diesel, agricultural, industrial and specialty filter markets.

Republic dismantles and packs used textile machinery for shipment.

Forsite also said it has leased its 165,000-square-foot building at 1224 Isley Road in Gastonia to Stanley-based US Leisure, which manufactures outdoor resin furniture and outdoor storage.

“We have seen an increase in activity during the last six months, especially in the manufacturing sector,” Houston Roberts, Forsite’s vice president of acquisition and development, said in a statement. “Forsite is heavily focused on finding new assets for acquisition.”

As manufacturing and warehousing activity has increased, Forsite said it has been able to lease all of the buildings in its portfolio.

Forsite was founded in 2004 for the purpose of purchasing “value-added” corporate surplus industrial facilities throughout the Southeast. The company said it has purchased or developed more than 3.7 million square feet of such facilities.
