Charlotte’s hospitality and tourism sector got a boost Monday when AAA Carolinas honored five Center City accommodations and restaurants for superior quality and service.

The Omni Charlotte Hotel hosted the event. The Hilton Charlotte City Center, Westin Charlotte and Omni Charlotte Hotel were all recognized for being Four Diamond accommodations. Center City Charlotte Four Diamond restaurants include Bonterra Dining & Wine Room and McNinch House.

During the event, Dave Parsons, president and CEO of AAA Carolinas, said requirements for a Four Diamond rating are rigorous, and that only 3.4 percent of the more than 58,000 annual inspections conducted nationally result in a Four Diamond rating. AAA gives the Four Diamond awards annually to qualified hotels and restaurants in North America.

More than 2,000 properties nationally earn the Four Diamond ratings after specially trained evaluators conduct anonymous overnight stays or dine incognito.
