Goodrich begins environmental testing for satellite

Charlotte-based Goodrich Corp. said it has begun environmental testing of ORS-1, the first satellite in the U.S. government’s Operationally Responsive Space program.

Goodrich is the prime contractor for the satellite, which is being tested at Goodrich’s ISR Systems facility in Danbury, Conn.

The environmental testing will determine whether the satellite is ready for launch.

The satellite will provide a multispectral imaging capability to support U.S. Central Command’s intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance mission needs.
