Babcock & Wilcox wins $428M federal contract

Charlotte-based Babcock & Wilcox Co. said Thursday that it has been awarded a five-year, $428 million contract by the U.S. Department of Energy.

The contract is for uranium conversion operations at gaseous diffusion plants in Paducah, Ky., and Portsmouth, Ohio.

Babcock & Wilcox is involved in the clean-energy technology business. It has about 12,000 workers and locations worldwide.
