U.S. transportation secretary to visit Charlotte

U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood will visit Charlotte Wednesday.

Charlotte Mayor Anthony Foxx said he invited LaHood to Charlotte to share his thoughts on the importance of regionalism in the development of the city’s transportation system.

“As U.S. secretary of transportation, Secretary Ray LaHood has been at the forefront of dramatic changes to national transportation policy, including greater coordination of federal agencies to promote sustainability, emphasizing regional transportation decision-making and shifting federal transportation dollars away from earmarks and formulas to encourage more competition for limited funds,” Foxx said in a news release.
