Like a patient struggling to decipher his doctor’s scribbles on a prescription pad, many local business owners are puzzled as to how the health care reform law will affect them.
“It’s very unsettling,” said Ben Stuck, vice president of operations at Marshall Air, a commercial food-service equipment manufacturer in Charlotte. “We’re just now coming out of a traumatic recession only to be faced with more uncertainty.”
Kenny Colbert from The Employers Association of Charlotte said that on Monday, the day after the U.S. House passed the interminably debated bill, he received close to a dozen phone calls from employers asking, “What now?”
