CORNELIUS — A convenience-store conversion and enlargement project that was withdrawn by the developer in January has resurfaced on the town of Cornelius planning agenda. Dallas-based 7-Eleven wants to split and conditionally rezone the 1-acre site on which a Sam’s Mart sits at Magnolia Estates and West Catawba Avenue. The new 7-Eleven would be a [...]
CORNELIUS — After being deferred earlier this week, a rezoning request that would allow a car dealership to make a major expansion is scheduled to resurface next month on the meeting agenda of the Cornelius Board of Commissioners. Commissioners voted unanimously Monday night to put the commercial rezoning request, from Lake Norman Hyundai on Chartwell Center Drive, on hold [...]
CORNELIUS — In a last-minute move, developer Jake Palillo of Cornelius late last week pulled his unusual — and controversial — multifamily Bailey Forest plan from Monday night’s town Board of Commissioners meeting, where it was widely expected to fail. “Jake is a smart and creative developer, but he’s a catastrophe as a communicator," Cornelius Commissioner David Gilroy said. "He shoots himself in both feet and the side of the head."

Developer Jake Palillo of Bluestream Partners, the group behind the Bailey Forest project, said he figured it was inevitable that the town's Board of Commissioners would reject the project.
CORNELIUS — It looks like a little tussle is brewing over the fast-track plan to widen Interstate 77 north of Charlotte’s city limits and ease congestion on the roadway. In a special meeting Thursday, the town of Cornelius’ Transportation Advisory Board threw a speed bump in the way of an otherwise widely accepted North Carolina [...]
CORNELIUS — The town Planning Board on Friday will consider a proposal by the Bank of the Ozarks to build a 3,800-square-foot branch and a 19-car parking lot on 1.5 acres on West Catawba Avenue at Kunkleman Drive. Bank of the Ozarks, headquartered in West Little Rock, Ark., and with branches throughout the Southeast, is [...]
