Charlotte-based Edifice General Contractors has broken ground on the $37 million Portal project at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte campus.

The bid submitted in September by Charlotte-based Edifice General Contractors for a project at Charlotte/Douglas International Airport was in two volumes, each about 3 inches thick.
