Meck 2013 home-building surge shows no signs of slowing at February’s end

The 2013 Charlotte-area housing market is still on a boom as of the end of February. The value of permits issued in the first two months of the year in Mecklenburg County for the benchmark single-family detached home is up nearly 60 percent over the same period of 2012.

As of Feb. 15, the building cost of $725,246 and the square footage are the largest recorded for a single-family home this year, according to county building permit records.
