Three N.C. organizations receive manufacturing grants from Department of Commerce (access required)

U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker revealed Thursday the winners of nearly $7 million in federal grant money, and three in-state organizations were selected to receive the money: the Charlotte-based Centralina Council of Governments, the Greensboro-based Piedmont Triad Partnership and the Morganton-based Burke Partnership for Economic Development, according to a release from the U.S. Department of Commerce.

Charlotte one of three areas in N.C. to gain construction jobs since August 2012 (access required)

The Charlotte metropolitan area, including Gastonia and Rock Hill, S.C., was one of only three regions of 12 in the state to gain construction jobs in August 2013 over the same month last year, according to a report by the Associated General Contractors of America.

Tanger Factory Outlet breaks ground in Connecticut (access required)

Tanger Factory Outlet Centers Inc. hosted an official groundbreaking veremony Thursday to announce that construction has begun on Tanger Outlets at Foxwoods. Once complete, Tanger Outlets expects the new center will feature over 300,000 square feet of upscale branded and designer outlet retailers. Greensboro-based Tanger is developing the outlet center in partnership with the Gordon Group LLC.
