The Charlotte metro area continues to be a hotbed of institutional investor homebuying, according to a report released Thursday by RealtyTrac. Among the 50 metro areas with populations of 1 million or more, Charlotte in September ranked 5th in the rate homes bought by institutional investors, at 17 percent. The only regions with a higher rate were Atlanta, Las Vegas, St. Louis and Jacksonville, Fla., which ranged from 23 percent to 29 percent. Monroe Bypass divides Union County communities: DOT suspends work but continues payments to contractors, including one facing unrelated felony charges
State and federal transportation officials are putting the final touches on a second draft environmental report on the proposed Monroe Bypass, as nearby towns debate the project’s merits. Meanwhile, a lead bypass construction contractor continues to collect payments even though all work on the project has been suspended – and even as the company and four of its employees face federal fraud charges not related to the bypass work.

During the first week of October, 166 Charlotte businesses turned their commercial real estate properties pink for CREW Charlotte’s Fifth Annual breast cancer awareness campaign, Queen City in Pink (QCIP). The QCIP initiative asked owners and tenants of Charlotte properties to illuminate their buildings with pink lighting, temporary pink fountain dye or other displays of pink including window ribbon decals, banners and flags. These efforts show support for the community’s survivors of breast cancer and honor those who have been affected by or lost their lives to the disease.Read More »
