Elizabeth Schnider lost her temper and her sidewalk — all in the same meeting. Last week, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Zoning Board of Adjustment told Schnider that her roughly $3 million Lake Wylie property features a sidewalk that's too close to the lake and more concrete than regulations to control runoff allow.

Zoning Committee backs apartment project near SouthPark

By a unanimous vote, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Planning Commission’s Zoning Committee last week recommended approval of Woodfield’s rezoning request next door to Barclay Downs Swim and Racquet Club. Woodfield is seeking to build an apartment complex at the site; members of the Barclay Downs Swim and Racquet Club oppose the project.
