CHARLOTTE ─ Fairway Independent Mortgage, the Boot Campaign and the Military Warriors Support foundation are teaming up to give away a mortgage-free house to a wounded military veteran in November.
Applications from veterans will be accepted until Aug. 15, Fairway announced this week. The company’s employees have pledged donations totaling several hundred thousand dollars for the giveaway, which is being provided in association with the Boot Campaign, a nonprofit organization that supports returning troops, and the Military Warriors Support Foundation, which acquires distress properties and modifies the homes for the needs of specific veterans.
“We could not be more excited to honor a family that has helped ensure the safety and freedom of all Americans ─ particularly on Veterans Day weekend,” said Tom Tousignant, Fairway regional manager and a 22-year U.S. Air Force veteran, in the announcement.
The chosen veteran will be honored during Fairway’s “Boot Camp,” a training for local mortgage professionals and real estate agents on how to help service members and veterans overcome barriers to homeownership.
To be considered for the mortgage-free home, applicants should visit www.charlotteveteranhomegiveaway.com. Applicants must be combat-wounded veterans honorably retired or separated from the military and not currently have a mortgage.
