CHARLOTTE – Mecklenburg County has issued a permit to Krispy Kreme to replace its store at 9301 E. Independence Blvd., near the intersection with Sam Newell Road.
The permit, valued at $629,000, was issued last week and was for work on a brand new 2,464-square-foot store.
Richardson Turner Construction, the Knoxville, Tenn.-based general contractor, didn’t return calls seeking comment on Wednesday, but Jeff Griffin, project manager in the company’s Charlotte office previously told The Mecklenburg Times that he is leveling the current building before starting construction on the new space.
Krispy Kreme also wasn’t available for comment, so no word was available on when the “Hot Now” sign will be flashing in the new store.
Richardson Turner also was the contractor on a Krispy Kreme that opened last year on Sharon Amity Road.
