CHARLOTTE – Mecklenburg County last week issued $9.7 million in building permits to Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools for a roughly $20 million renovation project at Ranson Middle School, off Statesville Road in north Charlotte.
Charlotte-based Edifice Construction is listed as the general contractor on the permit, county records show. Neither Edifice nor CMS were available for comment Monday.
The renovation project will include demolition and updates to the current building, the addition of another classroom building and parking lot modifications, according to the CMS website. The site shows that all parts of the plan have been approved for the permitting process.
CMS is under construction on several other schools as well. The school system has 12 schools under construction, according to the CMS website and county records. The schools under construction include: four elementary schools, three middle schools and five high schools.
