CHARLOTTE – Mecklenburg County last week issued a building permit to suburban Los Angeles-based Shea Homes for a 4,288-square-foot condominium building in the Riviera community, which is in the southernmost part of the city.
The permit, valued at $354,306, is for construction on the shell of the building, according to county permit records. It will be the 50th condo building in the Riviera community, the permit says. Riviera is on Jade Street, off Providence Road West and only a half-mile from the South Carolina state line.
Shea Builders is listed on the permit as the general contractor. The home builder didn’t return calls seeking comment on the new construction or the Riviera community.
The Shea website shows that condos in Riviera range from two to four bedrooms, between two and two-and-a-half bathrooms and from 1,171 to 1,602 square feet. The condos are priced from $134,400, according to the company’s website.
