CHARLOTTE — Construction started last week on a $162,500 renovation project to replace the siding on all 13 buildings at the Charlotte Housing Authority’s Cedar apartment complex, which houses elderly and low-income residents.
Charlotte-based Chois Construction, the general contractor, has been working since last week on the project, for which Mecklenburg County issued a permit Friday. According to the county’s building permits database, CHA is paying $12,500 to put new siding on each building.
Simon Choi, owner of Chois, said he expects the work to take about a month to complete.
Cedar Knoll, on Green Needles Court, off Nations Ford Road in west Charlotte, was built in 1979. The complex’s 49 units range in size from one to four bedrooms each, according to CHA’s website.
