Charlotte-area home price increase below national rate in December

Charlotte-area home prices, including those for distressed sales, rose 5.1 percent in December from the same month in 2011, below the 8.3 percent increase in home prices nationwide during the same period, Irvine, Calif.-based CoreLogic said Tuesday.
According to CoreLogic’s findings for the area that comprises Charlotte and Gastonia in North Carolina and Rock Hill in South Carolina, home prices, including those for distressed sales, fell by 0.5 percent in the region from November to December.
Excluding distressed sales, home prices increased in the Charlotte area by 4.9 percent in December from December 2011. Excluding distressed sales, Charlotte-area home prices increased by 1.0 percent in December from November.
