HUNTERSVILLE – A church wants to rezone a 6.8-acre tract of land at 12340 Mt. Holly-Huntersville Road, at Reese Boulevard, just off Interstate 77, town planning department records say.

Calvary Church wants to change zoning codes for the parcel from a general commercial classification to a highway commercial classification, which would allow the religious institution to renovate an existing 10,052-square-foot building into a sanctuary, and to allow the planning of a future 100-space parking lot.

Henson Foley Landscape Architects drew the site plan.

The proposal is scheduled to start the town’s process in early April.
