CHARLOTTE — Less than a month after the announcement that EpiCentre Theatres and Mez — the EpiCentre’s full-service movie theater, bar and restaurant — will close at the end of this month, Studio Movie Grill said Thursday it will fill the 30,000-square-foot void.
SMG said it will open SMG EpiCentre Feb. 26 on the portion of the second and third floors that EpiCentre Theatres and Mez occupied. The new business will offer a similar service to that offered by EpiCentre Theatres and Mez; moviegoers will be able to eat and drink while watching the silver screen.
Adam Bernstein, a spokesman for EpiCentre, said SMG has work to do to open its business.
“They’re going to have to upfit the interior and make improvements to the projector,” he said. “There is just a lot of upfitting that has to be done to accommodate (SMG).”
SMG could not be immediately reached for comment.
