Charlotte-area home prices rise at slower pace than rest of US

A study released this week by CoreLogic reported that home prices in Greater Charlotte ticked up another 5.1 percent in November from the same month in 2011.

But according to CoreLogic’s home price index, the increase for the Charlotte-Rock Hill-Gastonia area lagged behind the national average price jump of 7.4 percent.

Taking out short-sales and foreclosure deals, Charlotte-area prices rose only 4.4 percent, which observers say might be a more accurate measure.
