CHARLOTTE — Colonial Reserve at South End, a $60 million, 353-unit apartment project on South Boulevard, will be ready for tenants to start moving in by April, a company spokesman said.
Jim Spahn, spokesman for Birmingham, Ala.-based Colonial Properties Trust, said leasing will begin that month, when the first buildings are finished. Work began on the project in February.
Throughout the construction process, there were few holdups, Spahn said. One challenge, he said, was the smallness of the site, at South Boulevard and Poindexter Drive.
In urbanized areas, it’s common for sites to be small and have difficult access, he added.
Reserve at South End will be Colonial’s 19th apartment community in the Charlotte area.
“We’ve been in the Charlotte market for years,” he said. “It’s one of our primary markets.”
Colonial Commercial Contractors, the construction arm of Colonial, also out of Birmingham, is the general contractor on the project.
