Day care plans for Stallings need approval

STALLINGS — A 30,000-square-foot day care could open in Stallings, but first the project needs approval from the town.

Plans call for the day care, Rainbow Station, to be built on Pleasant Plains Road, in between McKee and Potter roads and on the town’s border with the town of Matthews.

Although the day care site has been rezoned, the town has to ensure that plans for the building meet engineering standards, said Lynne Hair, Stallings town planner.

The project could be approved in the next four to five weeks, she said.

The Rainbow Station is aimed at children who aren’t yet school-age. The company that would operate the day care also operates The Village day cares for school-age children. There’s already a Rainbow Station and Village on Providence Road.
