CHARLOTTE — Edencare Senior Living Services Ltd. is seeking city of Charlotte approval for a rezoning request so it can expand an assisted-care facility for people with Alzheimer’s disease, according to public records.

Edencare, which operates Preston House, at 4910 Harris Woods Blvd., wants a rezoning for 2.18 vacant acres on the northwest side of Davis Lake Parkway between David Cox Road and Haris Boulevard. (To view the project’s site plan, click here.)

The land, owned by Harris Woods Land Investors, is zoned for “innovative” development. Edencare wants the zoning changed for an institutional use.

Alpharetta, Ga.-based Edencare plans to build a single-story, 25,000-square-foot building that would house an additional 40 beds at Preston House. It would be the third Edencare building on the site.

Edencare representative Norman Gordon, who filed the rezoning request, could not immediately be reached for comment Friday morning.
