CHARLOTTE — The Charlotte-based Real Estate and Building Industry Coalition has a warning for their members: Stay out of uptown Charlotte during the Democratic National Convention or face serious hassles and delays for inspections and project plan reviews.
Wait times for those trying to schedule building inspections for Mecklenburg County projects will probably have to wait longer than usual, and projects within the Interstate 277 inner belt can expect even longer delays, REBIC said.
The County’s Hal Marshall Service Center, 700 N. Tryon St., will be open, but staff there will be reduced and traffic and parking will be a nightmare, according to REBIC.
Those doing business at the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Government Center, at 600 E. Fourth St., will be able to access the building, but traffic and parking will also be a problem there. The government center’s parking lot at East Fourth and Davidson streets will be closed Saturday through Thursday.
During the DNC, visitors to the government center will be allowed to access only the lobby, REBIC said, adding that meetings must be prearranged so that city-county employees can escort business visitors to the upper floors.
