Charlotte-area foreclosure activity rose more than 10 percent in July from the same month a year ago, Irvine, Calif.-based RealtyTrac said Thursday.

Foreclosure filings — default notices, scheduled auctions and bank repossessions — were reported on 1,150 Charlotte-area properties, a decrease of 28 percent from the previous month and an increase of 10.05 percent from July 2011.

Nationwide, foreclosure filings were reported on 191,925 U.S. properties in July, a decrease of 3 percent from the previous month and a decrease of 10 percent from July 2011.
