Thompson Child & Family Focus said it will shut down its campus at 2200 E. Seventh St., sell the property and relocate to the Grier Heights neighborhood.
Thompson, a nonprofit that provides care and education for at-risk children and families, said it has bought 3.65 acres at 769 and 749 N. Wendover Ave. The property includes two buildings, totaling 13,456 square feet, which Thompson wants to renovate so that it can expand the programs it housed at the Seventh Street campus.
A press release did not list the name of the seller nor the purchase price of the Wendover property.
The new facility is scheduled to open in spring 2013.
Joe Wilkinson, of NAI Southern Real Estate, is representing Thompson in the sale of the Seventh Street site and the purchase of the Grier Heights property.
The press release did not list the price for the Seventh Street campus, which features a 14,732-square-foot building.
Thompson has two other campuses, St. Peter’s Lane in Matthews and Clanton Road in Charlotte.
The president of Thompson, Ginny Amendum, said in the press release that the relocation to Grier Heights is a “strategic, proactive response to consumer needs, including accessibility.”
