Meck permits surpass $1B

So far in 2012, Mecklenburg County has issued more than $1 billion in construction permits, nearly double the value of permits issued by this time last year.
As of Tuesday, the county had issued 6,480 permits collectively worth $1.03 billion.
By the same time in 2011, 5,656 permits with a total value of $571.1 million had been issued.
This year, the permit with the largest value, at $123.7 million, is for a Charlotte Douglas International Airport hourly parking deck that will feature seven levels, 7,000 spaces and a rental car-return facility.
Archer Western Contractors is the general contractor for the project, which has an anticipated completion date of December 2014.
