Sterling Fox Group is seeking a rezoning of 1.72 acres in the Colony at Piper Glen development in order to build about 8,000 square feet of retail and office space, according to documents filed with the city of Charlotte.
The Colony is at 7810 Ballantyne Commons Parkway, near the intersection with Rea Road.
Charlotte-based Sterling made the rezoning request.
Ira Slomka, managing member for Sterling, said plans are to rezone a small portion of the site from a business shopping center district to a neighborhood services zoning.
Slomka said Sterling is still determining what will be the ultimate use for the area included in the rezoning request.
Charlotte-based engineering firm The Isaacs Group drafted the plans for the area for which the rezoning is being sought. The plans call for one building featuring roughly 8,000 square feet of space and 48 parking spaces.
A rezoning hearing is set for July 16.
