GCI seeks rezoning of 16 acres for 250 apartments on Lancaster Road

Raleigh-based developer GCI Residential is hoping to build about 250 apartments in Charlotte, according to a rezoning request.
The company’s request involves 16 acres at 15640 Lancaster Highway, near the intersection with Johnston Road.
Fort Mill, S.C.-based YFP Development owns the site.
The land is zoned “MX-2 mixed use.” GCI is asking for a rezoning to “UR-2 urban residential conditional.”
In addition to the 250 apartments, the project would also include a swimming pool and club house.
The rezoning hearing is scheduled for May 14.
